Ravings of John McCullough?

I know that this subject was discussed some time ago, but I am trying to establish the earliest date for this famous (infamous?) 'recording.'
McCullough of course died in 1885 so it can't actually be him talking, or complaining in the Bloomingdale Asylum.
The earliest reference I now have is such a cylinder made for a Xmas party in Ohio, in Dec. 1888. But Robert Conot claims (without proof) that it was already being played in June of 1888 (in W. Orange, NJ).
I also do not see it advertised between 1888 and Sept 1894. All suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!
Allen K.
