Greetings all -

I grew up in West Orange, NJ and my parents still live there. I went to the nearest elementary school where we would take a walking field trip to the museum.

If you didn't know, the neighboring Edison Battery Factory has been the subject of town debate for years (demolish, renovate, etc.) ... the battery factory has been deemed an historic site but is not a part of the museum NPS site.

this is the latest, and it's an interesting read:

...not quite related to the Battery Factory was this section, which blew me away:

Robert Parisi lived next door to the Edison buildings and remembers watching them go in 1974.
"My father got us out of bed early to watch the implosions," describes Parisi, now mayor of West Orange. "We local kids climbed through the rubble for days, collecting souvenirs like old Edison wax cylinders."

Can you imagine?
