Questions on Silvertone XI

Would like to know what kind of wood this is. I believe I read they came in Mahagony, Walnut or Oak. I know its not Oak but otherwise not sure.

The figuring suggests walnut ?

I agree on Walnut- they used some odd cuts in these cabinets, mine has flaws in the grain and even a small knot in the back of the lid. The best pieces are always the outside front of the lid and the inside panel of the lid. Sears did give you great value for your buck on these.

I have 3 Silvertones, their cabinet work is beautiful. I just wish I could find some reproduction purple turntable covering that Silvertone phonographs had on some models.

Agreed on the Purple Turntable cover. Any one have any thoughts.

It might be silk velvet, which is why many of them have gone bad

Didnt find any Silk Velvet but found Purple Rayon Velvet on Amazon. 10 bucks a yard.
Will get some and sell the balance once I get it.
