Wanted: Edison or Cheney Upright.

I'm making this post for more of the southern members that might have an Edison or Cheney they'd consider parting with. I rarely go to any of the Phonograph shows for being such a distance away, so I wouldn't really want to travel that far.

I probably should just be patient until one comes up locally, but since I've had a lot of good communications on the forum and people have been so kind, I'd at least just make a topic out of my own curiosity.

So I'm interested in the smaller upright Cabinet models like an H-19/S-19 for an Edison, or a Model 31/model 3 Cheney. (But these are just a general idea of what I'm interested in.) Since I greatly like the forum I thought I'd at least make a post, even though finding someone not a great distance away doesn't seem very likely. (But I'd still just inquire.)

I'd appreciate any close distance people that I can make an offer on, but if nothing comes up I don't mind this post being pushed down.

Thanks, everyone.

I found this one in Georgia on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-CHENEY- ... SwDk5UCH8u

You will probably find an Edison easier than a Cheney as more Edison's were made than Cheney.

Good Luck!

Thanks for sharing that! I hadn't noticed before while on eBay, I think I'll send a message about it.

Appreciate it.

If you want a small upright, Aeolian made one of the smallest I've seen---I do not believe it was made for a child but you never can tell.

I'm more just interested in either the two.

You can't be an Off-brand collector without a Cheney  But I'm also an Edison person.

If there are any Members in Georgia near that Cheney that travel to TN, I wouldn't mind working something out.

You might try contacting "Victrolaboy" as he lives outside of Nashville. His real name is Nick. He has done a noce job picking up some machines that I am sure that he would be willing to talk to you about.

There's a nice Cheney in Seattle craigslist if you search for "victrola". It looks to me like it's a high end model. Jerry Blais

He's looking for something local to him, but I found the listing. http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/fuo/5864522943.html It is a model 30, and appears to be a fairly small cabinet (and smaller horn) based upon the platter. On the other hand, this machine made it all the way to Washington state after being sold from a Minneapolis dealer.
