Extremely interesting Roger and thank you for posting.
I have a similar instrument in my collection and have never been quite sure as to exactly which model it is. Your publication states that the DR2, DR5 and DR6 had 26” square baffles---mine is 30” square although the radio-gramophone case dimensions are identical. Mine seems to have been originally supplied without the benefit of a radio receiver and, judging from the design, the latter may have been added at a later date---probably post-war as the name-plate inside the case refers to Newman Street where the firm was located from 1948 to 1967 ? Indeed, the cabinet now contains a later Goldring Lenco GL 69 turntable driving a 12 inch Whiteley loudspeaker---in all probability a conversion carried out at the same time.
