Nice cabinet... love the ball in claw feet.

Rare may be due to lack of desirability on the part of buyers at the time... I agree that the ball in claw feet are nice, but the rest of the cabinet leaves a lot to be desired style-wise and the overall design does not complement the feet. I think that this is where Victor lost the design elements of the VV-XVII and VV-XVIII, which were so attractive and went for a more contemporary "stylish" mishmash of styles... The plain cabinet with rounded corners does not compare with bowed cabinets and carved legs and inlaid book match veneers. This style of added panels to the front, is frankly, (in my opinion) ugly. It reminds me of bedroom furniture from that period that never sells in antique shops. Now, since I am not a style authority, you might disagree and that's fine... just my opinion.

I wouldn't mind having that Gennett the machine is playing in the video . . .

This is the upright version of the VV-410, which used the applied veneer panels with greater success. I agree, this machine just looks busy.

The low boy consoles do not seem to sell well either.

I'm going to be the odd man out, but this is one of my favorite Victor cabinets designs of them all.

This style like my Mandel or Silvertone is my favorite for an upright model.

With the ball-and-claw feet and the other decorative elements, it would have been right at home in my grandparents' 1920s house, with its heavy, dark "mahogany" furniture and busy carpet patterns. I suspect this style was already looking dated when the 370 was issued, but it would certainly have matched a lot of furniture and decor in people's homes back then. But the true test for us phonophiles is the sound, and I'm assuming that with the no. 2 sound box, fat taper tube, and enormous horn (look at the size of those horn doors!) this machine sounds terrific.

It would have about the same sound as the console version which is excellent.
