I'm brand new to this and want to begin building my library.
If you have an inventory of common records that you don't listen to anymore, please contact me.
No opera.

I have a lot of 78s. I have tons of classical records in albums. And I have lots of popular 78s too at low prices. I'm in Temecula, CA. Marc Capralis

I think pretty much everyone here (including me) has dozens if not hundreds of "extra" 78s of every age and genre. It would help tremendously to know what you are looking for; "quality" is kind of meaningless.

What years, musical styles, artists, labels, etc. are you looking for - or avoiding?

Where are you located? I've got plenty to get rid of from upstate NY, especially if you happen to like the crooner/pop standard/easy listening era (1941-52 or so) since I sure don't. But if red label Columbia, RCA Victor 20-series, etc are your thing, let me know!

Yeah... I guess that would have been helpful huh?
I'm not interested in opera, big band or swing.
And I'm much too new to this to be able to specify specific artists other than the ones that even the most ignorant neophytes would recognize.
As far as label goes... whatever is playable on an VV-XVI using either a #2 or #4 sound box.
Thank you for your patients with me!

Here is wish list:
20's jazz
Rag-time
"Speak-easy"
Early Honky Tonk
Blues
Anything Virginia
Hillbilly, old timey, bluegrass, Appalachian or anything American “roots” music
Dust my broom, leaving town, hobo, "Car" or "Train" type songs
Medicine show
Minstrelsy
Racist (KKK had their own label I believe)
I must offer an explanation on this last request.
For some reason, I am fascinated with examples of past attitudes or beliefs that are so far out of favor currently.
As an example, I am an ex-smoker but I love collecting Tobacciana. The attitudes for smoking in the 20’s is so incredibly different than it is today.
The fact that you are most likely aghast at my last request (as most kind people would be) is why I want to collect this genre.
I like to collect examples of the dark side of the human psyche.
My wife hates my collections of early undertaker tools-of-the trade, implements of torture and "personal massagers".
I believe that all history should be preserved.

If you are interested in instruments of torture, you can search for yodel records. Will Oakland on Edison records is also much more effective than waterboarding.

If you're looking for *real* torture, try some 1910s "heart songs" or "mother songs". It's like getting your heart ripped out, your head bashed in and your ears drilled through, all in one vaguely tuneful warble
