Interesting "Glorification"?, of an "early" Edison Standard

Looks like someone long ago really wanted to see how the mechanism worked, and built this specialized mahogany case to house the motor of an early 4-clip Standard.
Possibly going after the look of some of the Columbia machines?
I'm curious what the serial number is on the bedplate.
(I'm sure Wyatt, AKA "MicaMonster", could bring it back to it's former glory).
Cheers, Bob S.

Wonder if it could have been some sort of a dealer demo? Interesting. Looks too well done to be homemade.

Glass sides would make it far less messy.

the S/N is S39937. It looks like a lot of work went into it but the people in those days were really handy and could produce great works to substitute for broken parts. Makes it easier to oil the lower half though. That is really tempting as it must be one of a kind. Is this originally from India ??? Tom B

It was I. I normally would not want something that is not all original, but it is pretty clear that this was done a very long time ago.
I will be doing a very gentle "sympathetic" restoration including having the missing spindles replicated, and finish them to match, as well as disassemble the cabinet base and repair some of warping/damage. I will clean the dirt off of the top works but otherwise do not intend to mess with anything other than removing rust and getting it cleaned so it works properly. I want to keep the integrity of all of its years of patina intact.
