I am finally getting off my lazy but and getting my records in order. I've looked at a few sleeves online and was wondering what your thoughts on the Disk O File sleeves are. I did a search, here, did not find much and what I did find were kind of old posts.
Does anyone uses them? What are your thoughts...good or bad?

They are excellent but also very expensive. The most interesting ones are those made for intermediate formats (9'' or 10.5'' etc.), which are the only ones produced today that I know of. Those for standard records are a bit cheaper but also way more expensive than comparable cardboard sleeves.

Disk O File sleeves are awesome, but as mentioned before also quite expensive. I use the heavy green sleeves from bagsunlimited.com and am very happy with them.

I've gone back and looked at them a lot, they have been out of stock for some time now. I have a few green sleeves, unknown age or make, that have faded to a god awful green brown color, but I really do like the green color.

Wow, am I glad I bought a box of 500 earlier this year. Hope they get them back in stock some time.

I have been collecting 78 records for 40 years and recently moved most all of my personal collection to Disc-O-File sleeves. The only thing I regret about the move is like how I felt the first time I went to Hawaii, why did I wait so long? These sleeves are down-right outstanding, professional, excellent value and they really are engineered to perform. Most all of us have some rare records in our collections and certainly records we love regardless of their rarity…..and boy do they feel, perform and look good in a Disc-O-File sleeve.
Happy Collecting,
Ken Flaherty

Andreas, I couldn't understand if their "antique green" sleeves are paper or cardboard. Can you provide a link to the exact product that you usually buy? I like variety in things, and should they be made in cardboard, I may very well import a batch of green sleeves sooner or later.
I am a bit surprised by the selling price of cardboard sleeves in the US. Usually things are cheaper in the US than in EU. Personally, I usually buy from protected.de which has had a very steady production of cardboard sleeves in the past years, at basically half the price:

No, not cardboard but heavy paper. #32 paper translates to 120g per square meter. The white sleeves are actually the same weight paper, but I like the antique green color.

I personally swear by those Disc-O-File sleeves. Those antique green paper sleeves look very nice, but they are a lot less sturdy. They are much cheaper, but when I inquired about the shipping costs they turned out to be much higher than what Nauck charges. About a year ago Nauck's old supplier went bankrupt, and the new sleeves he offers are even better than the old ones. With the old sleeves, 1% of every order invariably was sloppily folded, with excess glue on them.
I also tried a local (Dutch) source for brown cardboard sleeves (
http://www.45toeren.nl/vinyl_accessoire ... stuks.html and those are even sturdier! However, the seams are right along the edges, meaning when handling the records they're likely to catch on to each other. Especially since they're not glued very well.
So from now on it's only Disc-O-File sleeves for me. And in my opinion they're not that expensive. The standard ones are 50 cents per sleeve, not a lot when I compare it to the value of the records they're protecting.

Disc-O-File sleeves are superb. As some have mentioned you can get them to fit odd size records. I have all of my Diamond Discs in them as so far they are the only thing I can get that fits them well. And they are well made and durable and offer good protection.
