How well are these built and are they original? I know they are from India but I was just wondering if they are actually good or bad?

Actually, they look quite good, but I have never seen one in person. It almost looks like they might have the original tooling to make them, but no, they are not originals. They also make the round case version which looks good, also.

I have been wondering why the round "system Vadaz" Mikky's are priced so high on eBay... especially with the repros that are available and close to the originals.

I can't imagine this thing sounds very good. But then, I wouldn't expect much of the original either...

I have a Mikky "made in Occupied Japan" as written on its lid. It came with its metal disc case, which I had never seen before. I keep it as a conversation piece, played it only once. Its sound is pretty awful, like its Swiss counterpart that looks like a pocket watch (I have one of these as well). Made to be seen, not to be played. The Indian imitation could not sound any better, physics don't change, just look at the size of the horn.

I've heard worse coming out of unrestored Orthophonic Victrolas.

The sound is about on par with a Thorens Excelda

I'm quite surprised I have a excelda and it sounds quite good for such a small machine not great but acceptable and the videos of the mikkyphone always sound much worse than the excelda.
