I remember a thread 1-2 years ago discussing a violin-phonograph... and that was a reproduction. That one had an entire violin sitting on top of the record as the soundbox and horn in one.

I have never seen this machine or knew of it's existence. It is very neat to see it's practicality, compoents in the horn and what not.

The reproducer and tonearm look like generic Paillard stock. How does it sound? Where did you get this machine? It looks like only a 7" turntable?

I don't normally comment on the featured phonographs, but this one is so interesting, I just felt I had to make my feelings known.

Makes me wish I had a job back in the '20s designing portable phonographs.

The turntable is just over 9 inches in diameter. The machine with the whole violin is "Le Palmodian". Seen more, as a copy (i.e. fake!) and very rarely in original.

That's one of the modern reproductions. From what I gather the originals had a more complex stylus system and were a bit more responsive- but still a novelty.
