Very interesting, thanks for sharing! Especially interesting on the J. Duquesne cylinder that they put the picture of a Puck on the label, the lowest possible level of player which would not provide much listening pleasure. Did they also manufacture Pucks, or was their target customer in the low cost range?
Thanks again
Andreas

A nice selection of European boxes. I have a Goldguss Walze box myself, but I've never seen a Goldguss Record box before!

Very nice boxes. My curiosity gets the better of me. I wish more information was available about the engineers, the machines used, the recorders of all these later moulded companies (and the direct cut brown wax as well.) it is so frustrating for me,as collectors have very little interest, in processes, and equipment used to make the records. I like playback machines, the varieties and all but the technology behind it, to me is way more interesting and fascinating the wax formulas, the cutters, the molding equipment, the kind of phonograph used, the acoustics of the studios, the kinds of recording horns, used diaphragms ect. My favorite recent book release of course has been the sharing of Henry Seymour (The Reproduction of Sound) Which does talk of some of the things previously mentioned, but still much is to be learned.

edisonphonoworks - What gets my curiosity going is that nearly every brown wax cylinder I get from Europe shows no signs of mold unlike the Edison & Columbia ones I find over hear. Properly stored or better cared for? I just always pray they survive the customs office ugh.

Somewhere on the net was a formula for Pathé' records, and my French is not so good, I did notice it said it used carnauaba wax, but did not understand the rest. I also ran into some formula with burgundy pitch, yellow beeswax, frankincense, and thought it was made up, however I wonder maybe in Europe instead, maybe beeswax was substituted in some of the records for Ceresin wax, and in my own experiments, when I did this the record seemed more durable, and probably more resistant to mold.
