QUESTION on Columbia " Favorite"

Hello,
I am starting to take a part a Columbia Favorite that I just bought. I want to get at the motor. There are five round head slot screws around the plate just under the turn table. If I remove those screws will the top plate just lift off? Or are those screws also holding the motor in place? I don't want to remove them and have the motor suddenly drop down.
Thanks
Pete

Pete,
The four round-headed screws at the perimeter of the plate hold it to the deck, and nothing more. With those four screws and the crank removed, you can hook your fingers in those two round holes at 9 and 3 o'clock and lift the plate and motor out of the cabinet. You might have to fidget it around for the motor to clear the hole in the wooden deck.
The motor is secured to the plate with three machine bolts with pan / truss heads which are blank. They have a square or serrated shank to prevent them from spinning as the nut is tightened from below.
Let us know how you make-out.
Frank

In addition to the 4 screws around the perimeter of the motor plate, there might be another one in back of the base of the tone arm.
Nice machine!

Hello,
Thanks for the replies. That's just what I needed to know. Cliff, you are correct there is a fifth screw just behind the tone arm. The machine should clean up nicely. The only missing part is the knob that opens and closes the louvers. Anyone know what that knob looks like close up?
Pete

Mine is a bit earlier than yours but this is what the knob looks like.
