Hello Everyone.
Noticed this Wilson horn EMG on The Salesroom.
Tried to get more pictures and any more info on it before the auction without a response from the auctioneers. Does anyone here have any information on it? How much did it sell for?.
Thanks: Chunny

I'm delighted to be able to update the forum on the progress of this Mark VIII EMG.
When I bought it the gramophone had been liberally coated with white paint. The horn had a hole and was also painted as can be seen in the photo below.
My first task was to repaper the horn. I repaired the damage with paper maché and refinished it using découpage paper.
The gramophone was disassembled and whilst I worked on the bright work a local furniture restorer, Dominic Taylor, stripped and refinished the cabinet.
The motor (Garrard number 10) was in good order and was oiled and refitted.
All is now reassembled and the EMG plays wonderfully!

Wow, well done, it looks spectacularly good - what a transformation! Whilst they don't have the bass extension of the bigger models, I think the Mk VIIIs have a special magic of their own. Maybe it's the purity of design, the straighter horn. I'm knocked out every time I listen to mine.

Superb result and a great credit to you---well done indeed ! As Orchorsol says, these models have their own definite and individual character which is a real pleasure to listen to. The Wilson horn has always had a first-class reputation and one in good condition is very hard to find. The Deluxe model of Mk VIII is even rarer ! Posterity will take its hat off to you ! Congratulations---you have a lot of good listening and happiness ahead. Any chance of a YouTube video to hear it in action ?
