I'm looking for a an Edison Electric Automatic Stop reproducer for my C-250 that is equipped with the electromechanical Duncan Auto Stop. Please let me know who may have one available.

Thanks!

If you come up empty on this inquiry, it might be possible to make one from a "regular" reproducer. I'll have to find my original and have a look at the exact details, but I think all that's needed is to add insulation to various spots to isolate the weight from the reproducer body, plus an electrical connection to the weight. I think the limit loop is also bent in a special way. I'll try to find it over the weekend and report back.

Does your horn have the special raceway for the wiring on its neck?

Peterf,

Thanks for you reply. Yes, the horn neck has the conduit/raceway channel with the wiring and connector. I confirmed the electromechanical parts and wiring are working properly by doing the following: I ended up hooking up two 1.5 V size D batteries to the wire leads located under the platter and connecting one end of another piece of wire to the connector coming out of the horn and touching the other end to something that is grounded like the finger mechanism and VOILA the pivoting detent lever was energized and disengaged from the start/stop lever to trip the brake lever. It's really cool to have something like this work after almost 100 years!

All I need now is the "special" reproducer. I look forward to hearing back from you to see how I may be able to modify a "regular" reproducer to make it work.

Thanks!

I picked up an E.A.S. reproducer cup and weight from Steve Medved a couple of years ago, to study for the article I wrote posted at the APS website. The gold plate is nearly worn off of the sound tube completely in places, but the hinge block parts are entirely intact. You could have this one rebuilt (it needs the diaphragm, stylus, and connecting link) if you need it to be the correct serial number designation, or just swap out the hinge block on your existing reproducer.

PM me if you're interested.

Best,
Fran

Hope you found what you were looking for!

I just sold my C-250 with auto stop mechanism for $200. Sat in my house for years until I needed the floor space for my Reginaphone. Had I seen this post earlier, I would have responded.

Cheers.

I may still have exactly what you are looking for. Give me a day to two to dig it out.

Here is what I have. If you cover the shipping, you can have the whole mechanism (motor, horn, chassis, reproducer, Duncan solenoid, etc...) That way you will have spare parts. The reproducer stylus looks good. I just haven't tested it.
