Were there any Victor cranks that were painted ?

The crank on my VV-IV appears to have been painted silver. There is not much paint left on it so, if it was done after it left the factory, it was done a long time ago. Were any of these painted in stead of nickle plated?

NO to factory paint... YES to a previous owner who opted for silver paint instead of re-nickleing... I had a Columbia cylinder machine that had that done to the hardware on the case. Apparently there was a lot of leftover silver paint from WWII, since my dad got a bunch of it from a wartime factory and painted our entire basement silver in the early '50s...
