Well, here is a second one that I finished a couple of days ago. I bought this heavy beast from an antique dealer in Dallas for $150.00 looking pretty much like it does in this pictures. The biggest issue with it was the fact that Im sure it had never been serviced. The grease was like tar inside and outside of the spring barrels and , it barely ran. After spending a full day cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting the motor assembly, it runs great and sounds incredible. Very quiet and smooth to wind. I rebuilt the Exhibition reproducer too. All Ive done to the cabinet is applied some Johnson paste wax. Im not sure if it has been refinished or not but, I do see some dark finish areas in the tight spots. I dont see any signs of sanding . It could have been re-amalgamated some years ago. So now, Im searching for just the right table for it. A nice Queen Anne oak table from the period unless I stumble across a matching record cabinet/base that were sometimes sold with these. Here it is!

Nice oak VV-IX. I have one in mahogany that also sounds and presents very well. Yours does not look refinished to me, at least not from the pictures. I love the oak grain.

Question: you talk about an Exposition reproducer. Are you sure it is not the original Victor Exhibition? The Exposition was a European clone of the Exhibition.

The VV-IX had classic Victrola good looks. There's a reason Victor sold so many of them. I like it in oak. Jerry Blais
