I saw this on Craigslist the other day, and I wondered what company manufactured it. I'm likely going to buy this for a friend, so it would be helpful to know.

It looks very similar to a Melophonic, circa late 1920s, I saw a few years ago, but it appears to be missing its legs.
I take it, the original tonearm is stowed under the horn?

Sorry for taking so long in the response. The tone arm pictured in the record shelf may or may not be the original tone arm. The only other thing I can tell you about is that "900" is stamped into almost every piece of wood in the cabinet.

"900" is probably a cabinet marking designation so that the assemblers put all the correct parts together.
The problem is, there were scores of off brand models produced during last days of the acoustic (floor model) phonograph -- circa 1926-1930/31. There was an interesting post string about this on this forum several years ago --

One option would be to scour the pages of Talking Machine World issues from the late 1920s, to see if you spot anything identical --
