Here is a life size nude lady phonograph. I reminds me of the movie Metropolis. I really like the location of the crank. Unfortunately above my pay grade.

That's funny. I have heard comments all over the chart on her. This is art and it seems to appeal to only those who can think outside the wooden box.

This is Victrola Girl Number 2. Mark Ricci made two and I bought them both. As far as I was informed, he had no intentions of making another. I'm downsizing my home and my collection, so I figure I only need one phono-goddess to look over my wooden boxes.

The motor with it's governor angled doesn't look like any victor motors I have seen. Does anyone know what it's from?

It's a Victrola one spring motor. Same with the tone arm, from a Victrola. Probably from a late Victrola IV, or an early Victrola 50. The lady reminds me of the movie Metropolis. I wonder if that movie was an inspiration for this. Really neat piece. When was it made?

Not Muffled. Sounds pretty good considering the sound has to go up her stainless steel arm and down her body.

You should stick an Orthophonic reproducer on her. Wasn't the credenza basically a six foot long "folded" horn?

Do you have the Whiteman "Metropolis" set for her to play?

Thanks for mentioning the movie "Metropolis". Watched a version of it on YouTube with modern music instead of the original and thought it was very good. I looked thru all my Victor scroll records and don't have a copy. It makes sense that I should. Mark Ricci made other large scale stainless steel art items including leaping ballerinas, mermaids, etc. Some with water features. Mark said he was inspired to build Victrola Girl when his brother showed up with the Victrola tone arm from a local garage sale. VG-2 was built in 2013 and VG-1 a year before. I believe he had said it took him about ¾ of a year to build each. I too think the girls deserve to have their reproducers upgraded (and I'm not talking ovaries), as well as the tone arms to nickel plated orthophonic type. Now they're on the gët list too now.
