The one in my collection has "Occupied Japan" markings which make it one of the newest in my collection. It's interesting to think the ages of mine and many collections range from the 1890"s to 1940's. Jerry Blais

It's a Mikky phone, similar to the round case Swiss version...

Apart from the similar sounding name, this had nothing to do with the Swiss Mini phonograph.
And a word of caution the one pictured above is legit, the ones immediately below I think not. But very well copied. Finish not quite to the level of the original.

And to add to the confusion, there are pre- and post-war versions of the Mikky Phone (which is not to be confused with, nor is related to, the similarly-named, round, Mikiphone from Switzerland).
There is a website somewhere showing the subtle differences between the two versions, and I don't recall any of them other than one having a metal handle on the crank and the other having a plastic handle. I have one of each and will get them out and compare them if anyone cares.
Mine actually work quite passably. It's clever how the design uses the record itself as a sound reflector.
The current knock-offs look pretty good, and if the motor runs in stable fashion, might be worth having.
