Thought you may enjoy this below comment in an 1878 article about how the new technologies are destroying life as we know it!
NYT in 1878: "Something ought to be done to Mr. Edison, and there is a growing conviction that it had better be done with a hemp rope."

And they even had the foresight to mention hemp...
