I thought people who do conversions only ended up with VV-XIs and off-brand trash. I guess this is the other side of the story.

A few years back I bought a perfect, mint, original Salter "double barrel" record cabinet just ahead of a guy who wanted it for a liquor cabinet. Score that as one saved! Fortunately, it was priced at $500. A giveaway price as a record cabinet, but pricey for a liquor cabinet. Thankfully!

It's also funny that these people think that "no one would want something (in its original state) like this" or "no one could fix it anyways".

That's partially why I like to save basket case machines, or ones that seem too far gone.

All those machines need a hang-tag labeled "Kill Me!"

More like "Re-kill Me!"

Today's hipster has gone too far!

But seriously, putting these (presumably) restorable machines to waste is an awful shame.
