Is this worth the price? (After finding out my Pathé' stylus was glass I've been wanting a real one.) Has anybody gotten one of these? Or a better place to get one?

I bought the one I have by watching eBay for Cheney reproducers. They often came boxed with a diamond stylus and sapphire stylus in a small box with the reproducers. I think I paid about $40 for the 2 styli in the Cheney box. I watched for a while before I found it though. Good Luck!

The seller states: These are said to be new old stock Pathé. They work in Pathé, Sonora and Actuelle gramophones. Manufactured ca. 1910 in Paris, France. The SAPPHIRE balls are reported to be much better finished than the usual modern reproduction ones.

A few years ago, Ron had some new old stock sapphires still in tins and I bought several just to have. A few months later, I called to get a few more and he had run out but still had "new" production ones. I had bought a couple of them from him before and I wasn't very happy with them. Best to find one you know is a real sapphire. No fault of Ron's by any means, I just found the original stock ones to be much better quality and far more gentle on my Pathé discs, this using the same machine, rebuilt reproducer etc etc, so that can be ruled out as a factor.
