The machine looks to be in really nice condition. It is in oak which is more desirable than mahogany. I think his price is a little high in todays market. It is worth more like $400 to $425.

The 50 is a good, reliable player but common. As noted, this one is oak which is more desirable. It also has the all-nickel reproducer, which is definitely more desirable than the later pot metal ones.
$500 is high, but not earth shattering. Offer $400 and meet in the middle somewhere.
Note also that this will play any 4M celluloid cylinder, but cannot play wax Amberols without instantly destroying them.

A couple years ago $500 was the average price for an Amberola 50. Today prices are in a slump on most everything except for high end machines. $400 would be a good price but if you really want a 50, and this one is very nice, then $500 is not outrageous either. I love my Oak 50 and it's a great player.

I would consider selling my Amberola 50 to you for a fair price. I could bring it to the Union Show.

I appreciate the advice on the pricing. I wish I was going to Union but, I am way too far away and too busy with work to get away.
