"Now it's time to let the music play."

Post by Tampa Don »

Wanted to share this article I read online today about a man in Aleppo, Syria who finds some solace and normalcy in his phonograph. Enjoy

The reproducer on the wrong side of the spindle is a bit painful, but an interesting story for sure.

Other's known to him are in ruin. He can at least be comforted by music, in his ruined home, within his ruined homeland. :coffee:
James.

PS: I see in the photo, there is a scrap of wood holding the crank in place. The pawl on his VV-50 must not be catching.

Very moving story, but it's hard to believe that a man that age would not know how to correctly play a record. I suspect that a younger person, who had never played a record in his or her life, probably staged the photograph. I say that because I've seen so many YouTube videos shot by "youngsters" (anyone under 35, at my age) showing the tonearm on the left side of the spindle and the angled needle pointing into the spinning groove.
