Birch tone arm removal for greasing issue

Salvaged a Birch 500, the tone arm is way too stiff and needs re-greasing. The issue is the base seems to be riveted and no access from underneath due to the horn tunnel. Is there any other way to get just that tone arm off? I do not see any other release pins or set screws.

It appears that you will have to drill out the rivet to remove it. When you replace it use a slotted machine screw or wood screw (whichever is appropriate) to re-fasten it. A screw shouldn't be a problem since the hole is countersunk and it will make it easier to service in the future...
