Genuine Sonora Phonograph Chair

Picked up this upholstered chair. Guess what was underneath the footstool? Looks like a Sonora crate was used to make it or repair it at some point. The only chair that's clear as a bell!

I'm thinking of disassembling it and keeping the crate piece as display, rather than under feet. Thoughts?

That is cool! I would remove it and probably shellac it for preservation and hang it on the wall.

I'd leave it as is. I think it would be fun to show other people, even if they're not collectors.

Weren't Sonora cabinets made at a furniture factory? Maybe the same factory that produced this chair?

Just a scientific wild- a$$ thought... :lol:

I bet when you remove it, you'll find it is original to the stool. It obviously was sprayed with the same red tinted lacquer that the rest of the frame was sprayed with. If the corners of the board are still white when you remove it, you'll know it is original to the stool.
