Not mine, but I thought I'd post this here, in case anyone might be interested.

I'd guess late 1920s/very early 1930s.

Just wondering if this has been refinished?
Was there originally a decal under the lid?
At any rate, the case is gorgeous.

You know, I've refinished quite a few radio/phonographs from the early 30's or so, and for whatever reason they kind of got away from the decals under the lid. It's kind of too bad, as they look like something is missing that way. The Edison radio/phonographs come to mind. Some of the RCA Victor stuff is the same way too, or they put a little metal tag in the middle of the lid, but I think the decals look nicer. And maybe it was because they would have had to put one more coat of lacquer over the decal for some protection, so it would speed the finishing process up.

I actually saw a working example of one of these on a trip to Portland a few weeks ago. That one was from 1929 with the paper trail to prove it, so yes, an early machine.

If it was in my area I'd grab it but I need to be good through the month of April which is hell month around here with taxes and every other yearly or six month bill coming due, plus license plates on 3 cars and a bus.

Yay.

For those who just want to know...I contacted the seller and left a message. He was nice enough to call me the next day but told me it was sold that night. He bought the unit in 1978 and never had it working. It was purchased from the original owner's wife and was never refinished. It never worked while he had it but thought it looked great so he kept it on display.
A women bought it for a display piece. I tried to get him to give me her contact info. He's "thinking about it" Go figure it will probably sit for another 30 years not working...
