As you guys know I have this Edison A-300 but it has no grill cloth.
Can anyone guide me to a good repro?
It is tan felt so tan fabric?
Anyone have a link to a seller and piece I should use for originality...
Thanks
Kirk

Wow! Pardon me, but I didn't know what an A-300 was until I looked it up in Frow. It's an A-250 Modern Renaissance, but in Circassian Walnut. I think there were only about 125 made! I'd like to see more pics of this please! Marc.

I would also like to see more pictures. This one should be included in the
Featured Phonographs section of the forum.

Grill cloths on Edison machines have a very low survival rate and remain something of a mystery. The most common remnant found appears to be a pale yellow-green silk, but on a Circassian piece, that may or may not have been correct.

Kirk- Did you see this?

If your horn is painted woodgrain like the one in this thread, I would tend to surmise that there wouldn't be any grille cloth... otherwise why doll up the horn like that?

Hello,
That is exactly what I was chatting about on my facebook group...
It is the painted woodgrain horn but the back of the grill also has glue residue and fabric remnants from a cloth...
That could have been added at any time in the last 100 years though...

So, leave it for now and finish up with what you have. Always easy to add a cloth down the road when/ if you find out what/ if it's correct.
