Okay, I have one for you guys. I just met up with another dealer of 78's, and he took me to his studio. Where he has wall after wall of 78's 33's tapes, and Edison Disc's. I was floored by the number of records this guy had. What's more remarkable, is that he is right here in my hometown. You would have been amazed at what this guy has accumulated. I wish I had my camera to show what this place is like. He even has some Berliner Disc's as well. Maybe, when I can save up some money, I will buy one.

I also bought a Victor Brown Record, from the Berliner Record Company of Canada. My First Canadian record. I have never seen a brown Victor record before. I will post a pic of it.

How's that brown Berliner play for you?

Mine are as much noise as music. Is there something about the surface/record material?

If you can find a Brown Berliner that hasn't been played very much you will find them quite lovely. I think Montreal was using less abrasive in the mix and consequently they don't stand up very well. But if you find one in good shape you will be amazed. And the thing is they can look good but play abominably so I thing one play without changing the needle and you were doomed...or we were .
Keep an eye peeled for the first Canadian double sided series in brown. Herbert Berliner decided to issue double faced records before they had so decided in Camden. Consquently you will find Berliners with the two,,,and different of course...single faced catalogue numbers.

It is, a double sided Berliner, and it plays as if it were brand new. No noise. This guy takes great care with his records.
