Is this normal ? The reproducer on my Columbia B sits at an angle ot the cylinder. I dont see any way to adjust it . Thanks

Definitely not. The reproducer should be level with the cylinder playing surface. In addition, the Indestructible cylinder mounted on your Eagle has (as I'm sure you are aware) a few stripped grooves. That's rather unusual for an Indestructible cylinder - especially one played with a floating (aluminum) reproducer which generally imposes less stress on the recorded groove versus 'weighted' reproducers with limit loops. Guessing someone likely tried playing this cylinder with a damaged or missing stylus or even a homemade 'stylus' (yikes!) sometime in the past. I would discontinue playing this cylinder once you get the reproducer playing angle corrected...but that's just me. I've never seen an original Columbia reproducer with that severe of a playing angle so it's likely it has been fiddled with sometime in the past as was previously mentioned. There is also a possible risk that the edge of the reproducer could contact and injure wax cylinders as it is now with this angle. Correct it soon as you can.hearsedriver wrote:wanted to be sure that it was not suppose to be at at angle.
