I am going to check out this phonograph tomorrow or Sunday.
Are the wooden tone arm models in this configuration very collectable?
Looks like the tonearm is broken in one of the photos or do they come apart by design?
There also appears to be an extra wooden piece in one of the photos?
Is the finish walnut?

Anyone care to give an opinion about value?

The tone arm looks okay - they're made that way...kind of air leaky, but nice to look at. The extra wooden piece has the vertical sound box, which can be substituted for the lateral unit currently in place.

Usually the art case models have a carved tone arm rather than the plan one seen here. The one that was posted by Keith that he has sold originally was mine. While I did not have that mid-arm seperation the head could be turned to play Pathé records. It had a seperation between the tone arm and the base while I had it I used rolled neoprene rubber to form a washer that doubled its volume output. It also had the record power counter which was standard and a big beautiful gold washed motor.

Sonora made some beautiful and in my opinion undervalued machines.

Used to own about this same model years ago. Looking at the right hand side of the playing compartment, there should be a small door that swings open and holds the vertical reproducer when not in use. Mine also had this plainer style wood arm and both reproducers.

You're right about the differences in the two tone arms.
Those carved versions sure are fancy.
