I was just given this and it looks like it is going to need a total makeover. A mouse has ruined the paint on the bedplate and gear cover and lots of veneer is missing. Needs a front grill, too, but that wont be a problem since I live about 20 miles from Tom Rutkowski.
Does anyone know when this model was made? I don't think George's data base goes past 1912. Were any made after the factory fire?
Thanks!
Dave

As far as I know, any Amberola Vs sold after the fire used the later style mechanism...

George Frow in his Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion reckons that 33 Amberola Vs survived the factory fire. However, 859 Amberola V cabinets were on order with the manufacturer and these were subsequently fitted with the Amberola 50/75 mechanisms and horns to form the V B model.
All the best

Dave,
Sounds as if your V was made DURING the factory fire...

Hi Jerry "If it's Rockin'" Van,
They, I hear, play only "hot" jazz records and no hymns.

And maybe "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes"?

I think "Great Balls of Fire" came out after the fire.
