It seems like the forum has been slowing down for the last few weeks. So I'll pick it up! What is the hottest song you have on 78, Diamond Disc, or cylinder??? My hottest song has to be Nat Shilkret and The Victor Orchestra's version of "What Do We Do On A Dew-Dew-Dewy Day" on the scroll label. I think I should also mention "Swing Out" by Henry "Red" Allen Jr. for the principles of big band it uses. You mustn't forget that "Swing Out" was released in 1929! Now for you guys!

Are we differentiating dance from jazz?
I can't pick just one dance record, so I'll throw out:
1. Abe Lyman Orchestra, "Shake That Thing"
2. Paul Whiteman "Whiteman Stomp"
3. Ben Bernie Hotel Roosevelt Orch: "Up And At 'Em"
4. Ditto: "There Must Be Somebody Else" especially the swinging choruses following the vocal
5. Ditto: "When Polly Walks Through The Hollyhocks"

I suppose not, as long as it's hot!

Goodness, that's a near-impossible question amongst so many records and with such difficulty comparing diferent styles! Here's an immediate thought though...

Some of the grey Gull studio band's output were real scorching sides.
