Victrola Automatic Brake Sizes

I just acquired a Victrola VV-X phonograph that had the "C" shaped arm for the automatic stop sheared off and got a replacement brake from a VV-80 on eBay. But noticed that the "C" shaped arm was too long and would not trigger the trip pin and returned it. Unfortunately I didn't measure the length. However a forum member was offering me a spare one also from a VV-80 that measures about 2.5" from the pivot point to the edge of the "C". I'm assuming this one will be loo long as well.
After a closer look on eBay I noticed other brakes with what appeared to be shorter "C" shaped arms probably measuring about 2" from the pivot point to the edge of the "C". I've attached photos showing the two types.
I thought the VV-X and VV-80 were very similar and shared the same parts. Does this make sense to anyone and does anyone know if the shorter one will definitely fit my VV-X? I would appreciate it if someone who owns a VV-X can measure from the pivot point to the edge of "C" shaped arm of the brake and let me know the measurement.
Thanks,
AR
