Strange cygnet horns

I'm wondering what impact all those bends in the tone chamber(s) would have on the overall sound quality.

Some of them look like they were designed by a plumber! 'Others a band leader!

One would imagine that the more and the sharper the curves the more self defeating the horn would be? (I'm think that first one in particular!)
