How do any of you who have gold plated or replated phonograph parts avoid deterioration of the gold plating?
Thanks in advance.

Overcoat them with Deft clear satin lacquer... its invisible and provides good protection.

Thanks. Would that work also on nickel plating?

The great thing about gold is that it will never tarnish. There is no need to polish it. The gold plating is ultra thin though so, the only maintenance required is a wipe down with a slightly damp cloth every now and then. never attempt to polish it no matter how mild the polish is. Keep all fingerprints wiped off with a soft cloth.
