I acquired this Edison Phonograph over the weekend and want to be sure what it is before I go any further? I have been told it was a Beethoven Model? Are these rare?

That is indeed a Beethoven, the larger and less common of the 2 Edisonic models (the other being the Schubert). This is a desirable machine, though not an extremely expensive one. Value depends largely on condition. Also, you did not post pictures of the turntable and surrounding area. This would help to determine whether or not you have the correct reproducer/sound box for this machine.

I would suggest you search the board for "Edisonic Beethoven" (without the quotes) to gather more information.

I really Appreciate the confirmation that this is indeed the Beethoven model. I should have taken pictures before I took the motor out so I could figure out why it would not wind up, but here are some more pictures.

The reproducer in the top left of the photo with the turntable is the correct Edisonic reproducer.

If the machine will not wind up, it means that one or more of the 2 springs is broken. Replacing these is not a job for a beginner. See the Links section of the board for recommended repair shops. You'll find Ron Sitko to probably be the most cost effective solution.

Alternatively, you can buy good springs already in the barrel and simply replace them on your machine with just a screwdriver. Please contact me if that would be of interest.

What would the cost be of springs already in barrels?
I have never replaced a spring but want to have it in working order before I attempt to sell it.
