Sonora Art Model

I thought some of you might enjoy the Sonora art model I found in Portland a couple of days ago. It's a Louis XV DeLuxe made in the early 1920s. It's about 53 long and 39 inches high. And it weighs a ton!! The owner grew up on the east coast and the machine was owned by her grandparents. So it's been in the family all these years.
There is gold guilding on the front and sides to enhance the ginger bread. It looks like the motor is gold plated too. It came with the unusual record duster displayed first in the photos. The pictures do not do it justice, but give you an idea. I assume it's fairly rare and would be interested in knowing the original price. Thanks,

Beautiful machine! Congratulations! Here is a page from the 1920 Sonora catalog showing your machine. The book on Sonora phonographs by R.J. Wakeman lists the Louis XV de Luxe at $575.

Absolutely gorgeous. Wish I could find stuff other than Humanola's, no-name machines, etc. I must be looking in the wrong places...

That's a cracker of a machine! Good provenance and looks like it is move in ready.to play some records. That is one fine duster to boot. Thanks for sharing. Steve

Nice local find Stan. You seem to find nearly everything that comes up in Portland. And, you have room for it! A really terrific and beautiful machine.

Wonderful for sure. I think its interesting that it winds up but uses an electric lamp.

Congratulations on a rare and wonderful machine. I have the same machine but unfortunately mine is gutted, just the empty cabinet though it still has the orig finish. hoping some day to find the parts to restore mine.very few of these survived.

That is a really nice find in that condition. What a beautiful cabinet, and I don't think I've ever seen the wood tone arm embellished with gold before. Congrats and thanks for the photos.
