I am going to an estate "tag sale" tomorrow. This isn't an auction, but sort of a "prix fixe" type of sale. At any rate, saw this in the lineup and have some interest in it. My knowledge of Edison cylinder phonos is basic, but I'm assuming this is a Fireside? This is the only picture available. It appears they want $395 for it, which seems like a good buy.

Yes, and based on the "standard" carriage, probably a Model A, which means it's a 2-and-4 minute player. (The model B is 4 minute only.)

If it's in decent shape and working, $395 is not a horrible price.

It is indeed a Fireside model A. One of the finest designed external horn Edison cylinder phonographs in a compact cabinet. It plays 2 and 4 minute cylinders and if you're lucky this one will have the model K reproducer. $395 is a fair price especially if it has the model K reproducer, works fine and the blue/gold decoration is presentable. And no concern about the seized mandrel bearing on any Fireside model. Go get it if you have the cash.

Thank you much. I won't know until I get there if there's any wiggle room on the price. There's only the one pic, no description at all or whether or not it is functional.

I also note at this sale there is what appears to be a complete Little Wonder phono and a Victor wood horn . While I don't care about the LW machine, I would like to see what the price is on the horn.

I think this is a great deal on a Fireside. I think the cabinet has been refinished in the past but still, a lot of machine for the money.

The value of that Fireside goes up a fair amount if that is a good, original Edison horn too. Good luck. The K reproducer, (if it is a K), and the horn, (if original and good), would make the machine practically free.

The Little Wonder machine and the wood record case behind it are not that easy to find and the Victor oak horn looks decent from the one picture. It should be a fun estate sale to attend. I'd bring a good amount of cash with you, arrive EARLY and see if they'll do a package deal if you can swing it. There will surely be others interested! I enjoy estate sales but it's always nerve wracking before the door opens to let buyers in! Good luck.

That Fireside looks nice to me, of course you can't be sure from these small photos, but to me it doesn't look refinished.

I have a nice model A Fireside with a K reproducer and (repro) two piece horn and crane I'll eventually be offering here.

What intrigues me most is that Little Wonder machine, if it were on this coast, I'd be after that, but naturally. Price certainly seems fair for it also.
