So I recently came across this really good condition victrola vvx J model I believe it's a j and I was just trying to figure out how much it's worth and what not and if it's the Japanese one or if it's just the regular one

Factory records indicate that from serial numbers 91000-245000, regular Victor VV-Xs were produced with a J suffix on the dataplate. This is a regular VV-X (country of origin wise), but the value depends on the type of wood used on the cabinet, and condition of operation. Without good pictures, it's pretty difficult to pinpoint value on any machine.

That is a garden variety VV-XI (not an X) with a G suffix, (not a J), dating from around 1915. It appears to have issues with the tonearm and possibly the wrong reproducer.
The XI is the most common machine Victor made, but it's also a good, every day workhorse machine. The typical Craigslist price for these is $100-$150 or so, but given the unknown condition of the tonearm and reproducer, it's probably worth more like $50. A fine first machine and a good opportunity to learn restoration techniques.
