Here is a 6" aluminum disc with an ad on one side for Abdullah Turkish Cigarettes and a poignant voice recording on the other of a mother in London sending Christmas and New Years greetings to her children (in the country, away from the bombings?).

You can hear the recordings on YouTube here:

This disc is in well above average condition, judging by the ones I've seen so far.

Interesting... It makes you wonder (or at least me) if they survived the blitzes and if the children are still alive...

They and their children survived. This record was brought to me by the daughter's husband who wanted to digitize it so that her father, who is almost 90 and still living, could hear it. They said he is William Glover, a British actor who played many character rolls in the USA in movies and on television. He hasn't heard this recording in decades.

I am glad to know that because I had wondered the same as Curt. Although the percentage of London destroyed was small, it still represented a lot of casualties.

Quite the time capsule there... I might guess Christmas 1939, the first year of the evacuation but before the Blitz, or full rationing (relative to the other advertising side of the record) had arrived.

The label area looks like the Dominion label. Has the same type of planet with ring logo.

This disc and the Dominion label are both UK manufactured, but the Dominion label was discontinued around 1930.
