Help with VV-XIV Noise When Platter spins

All, I have a VV-XIV. I oiled the Governor and surrounding moving parts as well as greasing the gears. I am still getting this noise where it sounds like a fast light knocking engine noise. Its not super loud but annoying me. The governor is not rubbing or hitting anything when spinning. Any clues? You can hear it in this video when I start the platter (1:45 time on video).

Sounds like the noise is coming from the governor where the spindle gear drives the governor. On some early Victor motors, the spindle gear can be adjusted up or down the spindle shaft. Try this: with the springs completely unwound, hold the spindle still and turn the governor back and forth. If there is noticeable play/slack between the governor and spindle gear then it needs adjustment. By adjusting the spindle gear up or down the spindle shaft, you will find the best spot for the meshing of the gears. There is a set screw on the spindle gear that can be loosened to allow the spindle gear to slide up and down the spindle shaft. BE SURE THE SPRINGS ARE COMPLETELY UNWOUND before doing this.
It may take a few times doing this to find the best placement of the spindle gear. Good luck! Cliff

I think its governor noise also.
I suspect the leather friction pads are hard and not holding any oil or the friction disk surface is damaged.
The noise gets louder as it comes up to full speed.
To check this, while the motor is running and you can get to the governor. Quickly move the arm and yoke with the leather friction pads away from the friction disk on the governor.
The noise should stop briefly until the motor speeds up enough so the friction disk and leather pads make contact again. Than the noise will resume again if this is the case.

I now have minimal noise which I can live with lol. Adjusted the Governor to have very little play and oiled it well. Thanks again!
