One of my favorites of G&S is Patience.
Does anyone know if : "Prithee, pretty maiden, would you marry me" OR "When I First Put This Uniform on" have ever been on a cylinder record?

Is there a reference to G&S cylinders?
I have the "The Nightingale Song" and 4 set of HMS Pinafore cylinders.

Thanks.
These have been found.

Is that the Russell Hunting set of eleven cylinders from Pinafore, issued in 1907? These must be extremely rare; according to Marc Shepherd's discography (http://gasdisc.oakapplepress.com/pin1907r.htm), no complete set is known.

I cannot throw any light on early recordings of Patience, but I once had a Columbia brown-wax cylinder (circa 1900) of 'The Flowers that Bloom in the Spring' by the Original Lyric Trio. To pad out this very short piece to a respectable length, the first verse was given twice, the second time by the soprano. The baritone took it upon himself to sing 'Tra-lee' instead of 'Tra-la'.

Oliver Mundy.
