I know that early on Leon Douglass got some Edison topworks and implemented his own spring motor mechanism to run the machine. Does anyone have any info/pictures/example of his version?

Thanks
Joe

I'm not familiar with a Douglass spring motor, so I too would be interested in learning about that.

I understand that Amet fitted his motors with tops from the Chicago Talking Machine company, but according to Tim Gracyk's account, Leon was working on spring motors and pitched the idea to Edison....the article leads me to believe that Leon had a Springmotor version of his own...Maybe he got the ball rolling and got Amet in to take over? I believe that he did employ Amet at some point( ??????)

Check out Tim's article
