I must say it is somewhat unsettling... I know it probably isn't, but it looks like quite the record-ruiner.

No more so than any other electric pickup of the time. I have a GRAWOR pickup & I'd estimate it to be about the weight of an Orthophonic soundbox. The big problem was a lack of compliance in the mounting of the needle bar.

Do they work well? I take it that they act like a regular reproducer and the needle needs to be changed after each use. Tom B
