Hey all,

Was trying to get some info on this Orthophonic. It is electric and is in working condition. I am getting it for $40. Any info on it? Opinions? Aside from the Victor website not much out there!

Looks like the bun feet have been chopped...

All I can add is: You must be busy pelican! You seem to have a new machine every day.

Congrats and sorry I have nothing of substance to add.

It's certainly worth $40, even with the damaged feet. The reproducer alone is worth that, even unrestored.

However, keep in mind that it's a console, which takes up more floor space. It's also one of the smaller horns in the Orthophonic series. I personally prefer crank machines to electrics, but that's just personal opinion.

If you don't have an Orthophonic machine and they are hard to come by where you live, by all means go for it. But having said that, I would personally wait and see if a 4-3 or 4-7 showed up as they often do. Both have a bigger horn and use less floor space.

I was honestly only picking it up for the hardware. Im not an electric person myself. But I hate parting machines out. Sometimes you have to due to cabinet condition. I dont have the ability to rebuild legs lol. We shall see. Its been stored in his garage so it may be pretty bad.Looks good in the pics though!!

I thought that the same non-folded (straight) exponential horns were used in the Consolette (4-3), the early Granada (4-4) models, and the short-lived Colony (4-5), and that later 4-4 models were fitted with the same bifurcated horns used in the VV-4-7.

Can someone clarify?

I thought the same. They are very similar in size! As we know size is not a factor with these machines as they are very loud players!
