Hi all,
I recently purchased this 12", single sided Victor disc, and I'd like some information on it.
First, I've read the USCB discography, and that has some information, like that it was recorded in Vienna in 1905, and it is a Gramophone Company matrix (153s). What I'd like to know is:
If the Gramophone Co. had offices in Vienna, or if this was recorded at his home or somewhere else
What the little crown means at the top (I would assume it means it was imported, but I'm not for certain)
How rare and valuable a copy of this record is.
Thank you!

(I'm sorry about the quality on the photo, my camera wouldn't focus)

I can at least confirm that Gramophone & Typewriter did possess a studio in Vienna. For example, the original cast of Lehar's Die lustige Witwe (Mizzi Günther, Louis Treumann etc.) made a number of records there in June 1906.

I have a one-sided 10-inch Victor disc from 1908-9 of Grunfeld playing his own composition, "Tarantella." If interested, I will post an audio. The crown in the run-off means the record was recorded in Europe. Is your 12 inch "Voices of Spring"?

I'm having a hard time posting the audio here; will keep trying. the record is #5779, a Victor black label 10 inch from 1909. The record is not listed in DHR, or in any Grunfeld discography.

This record is very obscure, unlisted in Grunfeld's discography or in DHR.

There's nothing mysterious about this record. Etude à la tarentelle Op 47, mx. 6711b (6711j on the Victor issue), was recorded in Vienna in 1905 and published on both G&T 45538 in Germany and G&T 35547 in France.Joseph Clack wrote:This record is very obscure, unlisted in Grunfeld's discography or in DHR.

Thanks. Duly noted, I stand corrected.
