Question For A Branded Case Gem

Did the lids of a Branded Case Gem have a stencil? Or, were they all burned in like Brandon's Gem. I have seen them both ways. I am really curious about this, and would like to know if there are variations.

I have always assumed that the term "branded" was used loosely. I believe, but don't know for sure, that they were in fact either stenciled or ink-stamped. Unfortunately, I don't own one my own to reference, so just my take on it, based on my observations.

The lid looks steam embossed, not fire branded

I may stand corrected. At first glance (and what I was always told) the lid looks fire branded. Upon closer inspection it does appear to be inked (there's a greenish-blue tint if you enlarge the photo), though it’s also embossed, not flat. This is why I never questioned it. Perhaps embossed with ink is the answer? It’s hard to say since the finish was applied over it.

Thanks for the info. Mine has a very light embossing filled with ink, too. That's what made me think it was a stenciling. That mystery is solved.
