I was wondering if anyone has a functional method of repairing a DD edge chip. In this case, a chip that does not enter into the music or the grooves. I hope to fill in/even out the chip with the disc surface just to try and avoid the risk of shearing off the diamond point. My thoughts have been to use wax, shellac, QuikSteel plastic putty (automotive adhesive putty), or some sort of acrylic. Ideas anyone?

A two-part epoxy is the hardest substance I can think of at the moment. Failing this, perhaps lacquer. The epoxy should be the thin, "runny" kind as you want to set the record flat for a self-leveling fill to minimize sanding to feather in the edges of the work. Have done this with 78's but I don't think this work will stand up to the pressure of that diamond point for long.

Use black nail-varnish...!
